How to use
- Enter the date and time you want to convert, then choose where that time is from under From time zone — a city or plain UTC.
- The table instantly shows the same moment in UTC, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Paris, New Delhi and Tokyo. When the date changes, the row is marked “prev. day” or “next day”.
- Add more places with Add a target and remove them with ✕. Swap with first exchanges the source and the first target while keeping the same moment. Copy on the result copies the whole table.
Common time zone abbreviations
| Abbreviation | Name | UTC offset | Example city |
|---|---|---|---|
| UTC | Coordinated Universal Time | ±0 | Reference |
| EST / EDT | Eastern Standard / Daylight Time | −5 / −4 | New York |
| CST / CDT | Central Standard / Daylight Time | −6 / −5 | Chicago |
| MST / MDT | Mountain Standard / Daylight Time | −7 / −6 | Denver |
| PST / PDT | Pacific Standard / Daylight Time | −8 / −7 | Los Angeles |
| GMT / BST | Greenwich Mean Time / British Summer Time | 0 / +1 | London |
| CET / CEST | Central European (Summer) Time | +1 / +2 | Paris, Berlin |
| IST | India Standard Time | +5:30 | New Delhi, Mumbai |
| CST | China Standard Time | +8 | Beijing, Shanghai |
| JST / KST | Japan / Korea Standard Time | +9 | Tokyo / Seoul |
Some abbreviations are ambiguous: CST means both US Central (UTC−6) and China (UTC+8), and IST is used in India, Ireland and Israel. Choosing a city avoids the confusion.
Example: a 10 AM Pacific webinar
| Date | Los Angeles | New York | London | Seoul |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jan 15, 2026 (winter) | 10:00 AM PST | 1:00 PM EST | 6:00 PM GMT | 3:00 AM KST, Jan 16 |
| Jul 15, 2026 (summer) | 10:00 AM PDT | 1:00 PM EDT | 6:00 PM BST | 2:00 AM KST, Jul 16 |
Seoul does not use daylight saving time, so its local time for the same Pacific slot moves by an hour between seasons.
Things to keep in mind
- Spring forward: on the day daylight saving time starts, an hour is skipped — 2:30 AM on March 8, 2026 does not exist in New York. The tool converts it as one hour later and shows a notice.
- Fall back: on the day it ends, an hour repeats — 1:30 AM on November 1, 2026 happens twice in New York. The earlier, daylight-time occurrence is used.

FAQ
Is GMT the same as UTC?
For everyday clock time, yes — both have a zero offset. UTC is the atomic-clock based world standard, while GMT is the name of the time zone the UK uses in winter. In summer the UK switches to BST (UTC+1).
Can I convert Unix timestamps?
For numeric timestamps, use the Unix timestamp converter. If you only need the gap between two cities, the time difference calculator is quicker.
